Artist Statement:

I live and work near my home town of Glen Rose, Texas. My goal is to always capture a moment in time, of the transient nature of a body of water, the textures of a flower, or object, and in turn, take the viewer to that place or put them in the presence of that flower or object. Creating is like an addiction for me. It drives me and feeds my soul. It's a passion.

Nature is the inspiration for my work, especially bodies of water and the surrounding landscapes, wildlife, and flowers.
My flowers are mostly from my gardens or places I've visited, and my landscapes are mostly scenes of real places from personal experiences. Some are well known and some are not.
I feel I have both a personal and a spiritual connection to nature that I hope is evident in my artwork.

I work with acrylics, oil, and watercolor in the style of realism, but I sometimes venture from that with the use of bold arbitrary (unrealistic) colors and imagination.  I start every painting with a general vision, but I often have a serendipitous discovery that takes the finished painting somewhere that I had not planned initially. As a result, every new painting is a fresh beginning and a new journey, and I love the unpredictability. As an art major in college and then as high school art teacher for several years,  I was exposed to a lot of master artists in Art History, along with the many art styles, techniques and mediums and those experiences continue to be a large influence on my work.
